Development history of waterborne polyurethane coatings

polyurethane began to develop in the 1930s, but there was only a small amount of research on waterborne polyurethane in the 1940s. For example, in 1943, German chemist schlack emulsified diisocyanate in water in the presence of emulsifier and protective colloid to successfully prepare polyurethane lotion for the first time

in 1953, researchers of DuPont company collected toluene of diisocyanate group polyurethane prepolymer on the Internet. Someone was collecting the signature solution of canceling traditional Chinese medicine, dispersed it in water, and extended the chain with diamine to synthesize waterborne polyurethane. However, at that time, the science of polyurethane materials had just started, and waterborne polyurethane had not been paid attention to until 1967, when it was first industrialized. In 1972, Bayer officially produced polyurethane aqueous dispersion as leather coating in large quantities

in the 1970s and 1980s, some water-based polyurethane products in the United States, Germany, Japan and other countries have developed from the trial production stage to the actual production and application. Some companies have a variety of brands of water-based polyurethane products, such as the dispercollka series of Bayer company in Germany, the X and E series of Wyandotte chemical company in the United States, and the water-based vinyl polyurethane adhesive Kr series of ring stiffness testing machine of Guangyang industry company in Japan. Since the late 1990s, the application field of waterborne polyurethane has been continuously expanded, and it has certain industrial applications in PVC bonding, automobile, interior trim, coating, coating and other aspects with the theme of "innovation driven" in this exhibition

China began to study waterborne polyurethane in 1972. In the 1990s, the PUD technology achievements of Anhui University, Dandong Research Institute of light and chemical industry, Chengdu University of science and Technology (now Sichuan University Branch) and others have been transformed successively

at present, water-based polyurethane products have been applied in many fields in China, but many high-end products are still not self-sufficient. Therefore, independent research and development of high-performance water-based polyurethane has become one of the hottest directions in the domestic polyurethane field
